Roy Keane
has poked fun at
Harry Maguire
after his impact in
Man United
‘ victory against Athletic Bilbao in the initial match of their Europa League semi-final.
United beat the Basque outfit 3-0 in Bilbao last Thursday to take control of the tie after an impressive performance, with Maguire one of many stars to be praised.
As well as a strong defensive display, Maguire’s piece of skill in the build-up to
Casemiro
His opening goal left spectators amazed as he maneuvered skillfully to evade his opponent and delivered a remarkable pass into the penalty area.
And, on the latest

asserting he wants United to acquire the Dutch player.
Jill Scott
Then stepped in and made a joke about United playing Maguire as a right-wingback following his performance in Bilbao, before Keane retaliated.
‘
Oh come on, Jill,” Keane said. “Loosen up, I know you’re just kidding around. Last week it was Harry Maguire. He crossed the ball, and everybody’s saying ‘what incredible footwork.’

‘He sent the ball across the field! Was it skill? He performed a small jig before crossing it! Isn’t it impressive at £80 million for someone capable of such crosses? Oh my goodness! All of you must be out of your minds!’
Even though the outcome was favorable, Keane persisted in voicing his dissatisfaction with Manchester United’s campaign and their apparent neglect of the Premier League in favor of concentrating on the Europa League.
‘I’m simply tired of their performance,’ Keane said. ‘They’re irritating me; all they talk about is this important match coming up next week, yet they aren’t putting in any effort.’
‘About two weeks ago in Newcastle, they mentioned “our concentration was affected since we have Lyon approaching,” hence they continue dismissing these games.’
I realize it’s a significant match, yet you simply overlook these league games? They’re appalling, absolutely appalling.
Keane subsequently aimed his criticism at Bruno Fernandes, a player whom the outspoken commentator has frequently condemned in recent periods.
While Fernandes’ quality has never been called into question by Keane, he has claimed the Portuguese is not suitable for the United captaincy, arguing he is not a ‘fighter’.
As the panel talked about Fernandes’ remarkable performance streak following Keane’s comments labeling the attacking midfielder and teammates as ‘deceivers’ post their 4-1 defeat at Newcastle last month, he also directed another insult towards him.

‘
“They sure have been putting up impressive numbers for United this season, haven’t they?” he remarked.
No, I’ve had enough of hearing about it. Bruno is indeed a gifted player. However, skill alone isn’t sufficient.
While, according to Keane’s statement from last month, he had mentioned:
Bruno steps forward, but it seems more like snippets without substance nowadays. It lacks real meaning. I am unsure how we should continue listening to the United players’ interviews since I doubt their sincerity.
He continually speaks of trusting his teammates, yet truly great teammates hold one another accountable. These individuals aren’t genuine teammates; they are just bluffing.
When I watch Bruno play, he impresses me as an incredible player, but I still wonder about his leadership skills. It seems like he doesn’t receive much support from those around him.
‘Newcastle performed exceptionally well. It seems that United are now both physically and mentally fragile. Ruben Amorim must be puzzled. I wager he can hardly believe how poor this Manchester United side is.’
Manchester United face Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their
Europa League
draw this evening, prior to hosting West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
